Cornelius Youth Orchestras Showcase Spectacular Performance at Mooresville Performing Arts Center

Mooresville, NC – March 14, 2024 – The Mooresville Performing Arts Center was filled with the sounds of classical music as the Cornelius Youth Orchestras’ Orchestra and Philharmonic groups delivered a wonderful concert on March 11th.

Under the direction of Jen Bassett, the Philharmonic performed three pieces. The evening commenced with the rousing “Chorus of the Huntsman” by C.M. von Weber, followed by the evocative “Cumberland Cross” by Carl Strommen. Displaying their musical progress this season, the Philharmonic finished with Larry Clark’s dynamic “Engines of Resistance.”

Led by conductor Eric Boruff, the Orchestra took the stage with an electrifying performance of two or Edvard Grieg’s Symphonic Dances. The Allegretto Grazioso included a stirring solo by Concertmaster Jacob Pecoraro. Continuing their exploration of Grieg’s masterpieces, the Orchestra performed two selections from the Peer Gynt Suite, evoking imagery of majestic fjords and rolling hills. The concert reached its crescendo with a powerful rendition of Brahms’ “Academic Festival Overture,” showcasing the Orchestra’s precision and energy under Boruff’s direction.

The concert, attended by music enthusiasts of all ages, was well-received. For more information about upcoming performances and how to support the Cornelius Youth Orchestras, please visit www.corneliusyouthorchestras.com
