CYO in the Community: 2023 Buddy Walk!

  • by

October 22 – The CYO had a blast participating in the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Charlotte’s 2023 Buddy Walk®️, an event that promotes inclusivity, awareness, and support for the Down syndrome community. The CYO’s dedicated volunteers and talented youth musicians made this year’s Buddy Walk®️ an unforgettable experience for all participants.

One of the highlights of the day was the CYO’s Brass Ensemble, which opened the event by playing the national anthem. Their performance set the tone for a day filled with music, camaraderie, and celebration.

Throughout the Buddy Walk®️, the CYO parent volunteers and students showed their support for the walkers. Adorned with pom-poms and noisemakers, they cheered on participants as they entered the Kannapolis Cannonballer Ballpark, walked the course, and eventually exited the stadium. Our Brass Ensemble played various pieces as the participants walked. Their energy and enthusiasm helped create an electrifying atmosphere!

In the “Musical Discovery” tent, CYO Parent volunteers and youth musicians were on hand to provide a unique and interactive experience for visitors. Participants had the opportunity to explore and learn about various musical instruments. Our goal was to show how music can bring people together and create a sense of unity and inclusivity.

The CYO’s involvement in the 2023 Buddy Walk®️ exemplifies the organization’s commitment to supporting its local community and promoting the joy of music. This event was a testament to the power of music to bridge gaps and bring people together, regardless of their backgrounds.
