GENERAL INFORMATION
The Cornelius Youth Orchestras’ Philharmonic, featuring musicians from all four instrument families, is the perfect opportunity for beginning to intermediate level musicians to be introduced to the full orchestra experience! Under the skillful direction of Jen Bassett, this group performs a wide variety of musical genres. Placement in the Philharmonic is evaluated and determined by an audition.
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Woodwinds, Brass, and Strings
- Three (3) major or minor scales of applicant’s choice
- Two (2) contrasting pieces of applicant’s choice showing range and ability
Percussion
- One selection from the SCDBA list of audition repertoire. Click to view
CLASS DETAILS & PROGRAM FEES
Rehearsals for the Philharmonic are held on Tuesday nights at Bailey Middle School in Cornelius from 6:30-8:00pm. Please reference the calendar on our website for more information. Students should plan to arrive 10 minutes early to all rehearsals to allow time for instrument setup and warmups.
- Annual tuition is $450 and includes participation in all CYO programs, pending placement
- 10% discount to families with multiple students
